Besides being the first such camp in Kerala, the location where the camp is located is nothing short of stunning! The river Periyar flows right next to the camp, the lowland forest of Thattekkad is right in front and the area is calm and quiet. The main USP of the camp is that it is managed by the local community members, many families depending on the income from this camp for their livelihood (tuk-tuks, taxis, local vegetable farmers, the local guides etc..). Hence it is in essence an eco-camp in its true sense and not a label as a marketing tool !
