Hornbill Camp at Thattekkad near Kochi (70 kms from Munnar),is so located, to perfectly blend into the forest, so you can enjoy your own private jungle and the spectacular view of the River Periyar. Along its banks, birds flock in their thousands and the cool ambience is the ultimate prize for the birder. Known as the Birder's Paradise, the Hornbill Camp and the adjoining Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, is home to over 300 species of birds, including all the endemics. Mottled Wood Owl, Brown Wood Owl, Spot-bellied Eagle Owl, Malayan Night Heron, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Rusty-tailed Flycatcher, Grey-headed Bulbul, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon are some of the rarer species found here.

At Hornbill Camp, we provide an unusual stay, which is in air-conditioned tent houses. We have total 20 luxury tents (double fly living tent), 17 of which are water facing. Accommodation here is simple and ecofriendly. Each tent has its own private bathroom and an exclusive balcony. You can simply laze on the cane chairs in the balcony in front of the tent and enjoy the true colors of nature along with the humming of a 1000 birds.
The tents of this Camp have comfortable beds, en-suite bathroom, air conditioners, shower and hot running water. Our Gazebo is a huge water front restaurant and relaxing place. It would indeed be the ultimate experience to watch the rain forest from the gazebo on the banks of the gently flowing River Periyar and loosen up in the calm atmosphere provided by the evergreen forest
